The VTS3000X tracking device provides a cost effective and intelligent
turnkey solution for real time fleet messaging, vehicle tracking and telemetry
applications. It can function either as a complete autonomous vehicle
location system or in partnership with a Mobile Data Terminal, PDA or
Laptop.
“Always on” CDMA or GPRS Communications
The VTS3000X includes an integrated CDMA or GPRS transceiver, enabling it to remain in
real-time communication with the base whenever the unit is in radio coverage. This new but
proven technology offers IP based communication with significantly greater bandwidth and
lower communication costs and latency than conventional analogue radio networks. It also
supports CDMA or GSM voice communication through the addition of a handset or optional
Speaker and Microphone to the device.
The device will autonomously setup to maintain a TCP/IP socket connecting to the base and
allowing GPS and Job data to pass over this link in real-time. The connection also allows
the device to be programmed. The device also acts as a proxy server providing a wireless
IP link to an external device (PDA) for non-proprietary messaging such as a browser
application on a PDA.
The VTS3000 can also act as a store and forward buffer for incoming messages. If the
partner MDT device is not present, messages will be stored on the VTS3000 and forwarded
to the MDT when reconnection is detected. This allows a non-wireless PDA to be used
away from the vehicle whilst still maintaining availability to the base.
GPS Tracking and Intelligent Control
The VTS3000 includes a low power 12 Channel GPS receiver, providing real time position
and velocity information, typically accurate to within 5m*. This data can be sent over the air
on demand, or automatically, at intervals or events defined by the user. The unit can also be
configured to store over 50,000 time stamped GPS + I/O status records and to forward the
data over the air on demand.
